This website is so unique because it offers the capability for individuals to not only register for the event, but also to collect donations from their friends and family through their online Personal Page. You can track the progress of donation collections through viewing secured online reports.
3. Can friends and family make a donation to a participant by going through the main website?
Yes. On the homepage of the website, friends and family can locate a Walker or Crew Member by clicking on the "Donate to a Participant" button. By typing in the name of the participant, they will be directed to the participant's Personal Page. You may also locate a participant through their Participant ID Number or their team name.
4. Is a portion of the registration fee a donation?
No. Your registration fee does not apply towards your fundraising minimum.
5. How much money raised by Breakthrough Breast Cancer goes to the cause?
100% of all donations goes straight to . From there, the funds are invested in leading research, care, education and other critical breast cancer initiatives. In addition, pays for the costs of the event, most of which come from resources right here in .
6. How does Breakthrough Breast Cancer utilise the contributions?
All proceeds from The Aviva Weekend to Breakthrough Breast Cancer will help fund the critical work of Breakthrough Breast Cancer, the leading charity committed to fighting the disease through research and education. Having established the UK’s first dedicated breast cancer research centre, Breakthrough’s scientific work ultimately aims to eradicate breast cancer by discovering its causes, finding methods of prevention and developing new treatments. Breakthrough also campaigns for policies that support breast cancer research and better services, as well as promoting breast cancer education and awareness among the public, policy makers, health professionals, and the media.
7. Can I donate using traditional mail?
Yes. Just mail in your donation with a donation form that has the Participant ID Number of the Walker or Crew Member you are donating to on it. Participants can print donation forms directly from their Personal Page. Go to your Personal Page, go to Tools and select "Print Donation Form." Give a form to donors who wish to mail in their donation, the address is right there on the form. If you are a donor, please follow the instructions for Question 3 above to get to the Personal Page, then click on the link on the left side of the Personal Page to download a copy of the donation form. You can also call our office on 0870 950 8888 and we can mail or fax you a donation form.
8. Is my information secure?
Convio, the company responsible for housing and maintaining The Aviva Weekend to Breakthrough Breast Cancer website, has made every effort to protect your information. They use industry-standard SSL encryption techniques to make sure that your credit card information, passwords, and personal information travel securely over the Internet. They have also installed an encryption engine on our database server so that your data is securely stored.
9. How is my credit card number handled?
Credit card numbers are not stored in our database. During the donation process we send your credit card number to an online processing terminal using a secure connection. The information passed back is an approval or denial for the credit card donation.
10. I forgot my username and password.
Remember that your username and password are case sensitive. You will receive an email with your username and password immediately after you register. If you still have problems, please contact our coaches on 0870 950 8888 for help.
11. How do I change my username and/or password?
Login to your Personal Page in the Participant Centre using your username and password. Once you are logged in you will see an additional link on the top of the page called "Update My Profile." Once in your profile, you will be able to change your contact information, email address, username and password. All changes will be made to your account immediately. There is no need to sign back in. If you are having difficulties, please call the coaches on 0870 950 8888. We'll be happy to walk you through the process, or change it for you.
12. What is a Personal Page?
A Personal Page is a page you customise and ask your friends and family to visit when soliciting donations. Once you register, by default you will have a Personal Page created for you. You have the option of personalising the images, text and layout on your page by going to your Participant Centre.
13. Do I have to use and change my Personal Page?
Once you register, by default you will have a Personal Page created for you, and your name will be listed in the participant database so that those wishing to donate to your fundraising can find you. You are not required to use or change your Personal Page, but it's one of the easiest, most efficient, and most fun features that will help you with your fundraising efforts.
14. How do I change my personal fundraising goal?
You will need to login to your Participant Centre. On the bottom right side of your Personal Page, you can click to modify your personal fundraising goal. Enter your new goal and submit the changes.
15. How can I see who has donated to me?
If you've chosen the default, you will automatically receive an email notifying you when a donation has been made. Or, you can log into the site using your Username and Password and go to your Personal Page. Click on the "My Progress" tab and you will be able to view your donor list and the amounts that have been donated.
16. How do I change my team name, team goal, and team page content?
Only the team captain has the ability to change these team settings. The team captain will need to login to his or her Participant Centre and click the "My Team Progress" button on the top right. On the Team Progress Page, team captains will have the ability to update the team name, goal, photo, and text.
17. How can I see who is on my team?
Login to the site using your Username and Password. Go to your Participant Centre and click the "Team Progress" tab. From there you will be able to view your team roster and the amounts raised by each team member.
18. How do I change my team message?
Simply go to your Participant Centre and click the "Update Message to Team" button. This will allow you to make all necessary changes to your team message.
19. How do I change a name on the Fundraising Honour Roll?
To update or change a name on the Fundraising Honour Roll, simply call us on 0870 950 8888 or email us at with the revised information and we will update your Fundraising Honour Roll for you.
20. How do I upload a photo to add to my Personal Page?
On your Personal Page, click the "Browse" button in the photo section, and then in the File Upload window that displays, select the photo you wish to place in that piece of the layout. Click Open.
The path to the file on your computer will display in the Browse text box. Also, the selected photo will show up in the cell. Note that you can only upload a photo in .jpeg format. So make sure that you have saved any photo that you wish to use in this format.

21. Why don’t you announce the route ahead of time?
Though the location of the Opening Ceremony, campsite, and Closing Ceremony will be announced well in advance of The Aviva Weekend to Breakthrough Breast Cancer, the route will not be pre-announced. This is strictly a safety precaution as the route may have to change at the last minute due to traffic signal failures, broken water mains, or any other unforeseen issues. Therefore, we do not announce the route. Before the event, however, we will send you Cheering Station locations and times so that your friends and family can see and support you along your walk. |
