When you ask your friends to join you on a team, and you ask them to ask others to join as well, things begin flourishing, snowballing, growing, and before you know it, that little bit of courage you put into asking someone to join you has grown into dozens of people asking dozens of people to participate. It can grow into five, ten, maybe as many as a hundred people who would not otherwise have known about The Aviva Weekend to Breakthrough Breast Cancer. So get started recruiting you teammates today with this great Recruitment Flyer!

When you ask for a donation, you may get £50 or £100. When you ask someone to participate as well, you register a fundraiser who is going to go out and raise at least £1,500.

The most important thing to do if you want to start a team is to start asking people to walk with you. You will be surprised by how easy it is to find three people who would like to join your team. Make a promise to yourself to register your first teammate within 24 hours. And then make sure everyone on your team asks one other person to join. You will be amazed at what happens.

What are the benefits of joining a team?

A team brings the spirit of The Aviva Weekend to Breakthrough Breast Cancer community into your life all year. Event participants who are on a team will usually raise more money for the cause than those without a team to support them. Why? They have the benefit of their team members’ advice and encouragement. Participants who are on a team are also much more likely to stick to their commitment and actually participate in the event. Training, fundraising, and the whole event preparation process becomes easier with a team to support you.

One of the best ways to train and to keep yourself motivated is to be a part of a team. Ask three friends or family members to register and walk with you. You can hold each other accountable and keep each other company along the way. Having others to lean on, and having others count on you is uplifting and inspiring, not to mention fun! It will push you to get up a little earlier in the morning, head out in the cold or walk those extra kilometres.

"The thought of getting up on a rainy Saturday morning was daunting to say the least. But knowing my sister and my best friend were waiting for me at the park inspired me to get up and keep walking. The best part was that even while we were wet we managed to have fun, because we were all out there together!" - Sally Lehrman, Walker
