About Aviva

Everyday, Aviva, the international savings, investments and insurance group, helps 30 million customers around the world take care of their future - we call this "forward thinking." In the UK you'll know us as Norwich Union, but wherever we operate around the world, Aviva is in the business of helping its customers, staff, shareholders, and the communities in which we all live and work, build a better tomorrow.

So how can Aviva help Breakthrough Breast Cancer achieve their vision of a future free from the fear of breast cancer?

We believe we can start by helping Breakthrough raise funds for projects like the "Breakthrough Generations Study.” This ambitious and vital long-term research project aims to discover the causes of breast cancer leading to a better tomorrow for millions worldwide whose lives are affected by this disease.

That’s why at Aviva we’re so proud and excited about our new partnership with Breakthrough as title sponsor of The Aviva Weekend to Breakthrough Breast Cancer which aims to raise funds to support Breakthrough Breast Cancer’s vital research and education programmes.

The first Weekend to Breakthrough Breast Cancer in 2005 was a huge success, raising a staggering £5.4 million. In 2006, The Aviva Weekend to Breakthrough Breast Cancer will set even higher targets with two walks taking place in London and Birmingham.

Announcing the sponsorship, Richard Harvey, Aviva’s Group Chief Executive said:

"For all of you training and preparing to take part in The Aviva Weekend to Breakthrough Breast Cancer, I want you to know that Aviva will be with you every step of the way. Together we have the opportunity to make these events an amazing weekend for Breakthrough Breast Cancer and help them realise their ambition of a future free from the fear of breast cancer.

"But you and I both know that the power of these events goes beyond fundraising. The extraordinary women and men who take part in this special event are sending out a powerful, positive, and inspirational message of support to anyone whose lives are affected by breast cancer. I am proud that Aviva can play its part in taking these events to London and Birmingham in 2006."
